It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Looky looky, blog buddies!  Our tree is UP and shining bright!  I love love love putting the tree up this early before Christmas because this way we get to enjoy for MUCH longer.

We listened to holiday music and laughed all night as we pulled festive whatnots out of the box marked "XMAS" that has been in the storage shed for a whole year.  I love the process of decorating the house for the holidays.  I have since I was just a little boy and I would help my dad find our holiday stuff in the garage.  What can I say?  I'm seriously holly jolly.

Is YOUR tree up?  Do YOU have a different tradition?
:)

  2. i love opening the ornament boxes - like i'll be surprised at what is in there!? i was the one who packed them up at the end of the season last year but it still is a 'thrill'.

we always make a gingerbread house - NOT martha style - from a kit from Costco - but fun all the same.

and i collect nutcrackers - it really isn't Christmas until the nutcrackers are on display - we put them up today.

  5. Karen....I just laughed so hard about Hermie... Mama Cain got a hold of him on Friday!!

Ross...Your tree is beautiful!!! I have two trees in my house (full size). One in my family room and one in my living room. I have a hugh Santa Claus collection that is displayed in my family room. Well....I have Santa's in about everyone room in the house. My tree in the living room has all the decorations my children made while they were in grade school. Many special gifts over the years from my children, grandchlidren and family in a Christmas ornament. I treasure them... I have Christmas bulbs from the 1940 & 1950's that were my parents on that tree. Three special glass ornaments that remained that my dad bought my mom for their very first Christmas tree together as husband and wife. When I hang them on the tree, little tears fill my eyes for I had a on going joke with my Mom over those 3 Christmas ornaments. Such simple things that can mean so much years later... Keepsakes....love them!!

My son made a Star of David many years ago in First Grade because his Dad's name is David. That Star of David is hung proudly on our tree too. We also have a Witch ornament that my daughter Stephanie made....My keepsakes that I love...

When you step outside of my house at night, I am not decorated as the Griswald's but I have decorated outside too. My neighbors never decorated but now they do. I think it puts people in the Holiday spirit and it does not matter what Religion you are but a celebration with love.

Two grandchildren stayed over last night, they just left and another grandchild will be arriving shortly. Have a great day everyone!! Loving Syracuse right now....we will be in the 50's today. No snow so far to mention.

  7. Ross, your tree is beautiful. Much different from the tree you put up when you were a single guy! I decorated my tree and home yesterday, too, which is a bit earlier than usual. I haven't figured out what to buy people yet, so decorating seemed like a good thing to do since I wasn't going shopping. I love the whole process of decorating for Christmas, from getting the boxes down, to unwrapping each ornament, to finding just the right spot for each much-loved item. I love this time of year. I am going to a Christmas dinner tonight at a yacht club! Now, if only I could get my Christmas shopping done!

  8. Marigold, have you heard of Etsy? It's an online store, where craftspeople sell their wares. Look into it. Your knit goods will fit right in, and you can start a little business.

I think Jenny Craig works, and so does cutting down on calories and moving more.

ROSS, YOUR HOME LOOKS SO NICE. IT'S SUCH A WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR. ENJOY EVERY MINUTE. I HOPE YOU CAN GET HOME TO SEE YOUR MOM. HI MOM ROSS.

MARE, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND BACK AT YOU. ARE YOU HOME YET?

KATIE, ARE YOU READY FOR CHRISTMAS?

  11. TG: Here! Here! But Karen's right about the trouble: I'm a touch hung over from two Christmas parties last night!

Ross: My favorite Christmas tradition is going to see Jackie Beat, which I'm doing on Dec 19th. Songs like "Go to Hell" really put me in the spirit! LOL!

Marigold: Your thoughts are NOT boring! Post frequently and often!

    Luvs: Happy yachting tonight!

  15. BRIT, DOC IS ALL SET FOR CHRISTMAS. HE TOLD SANTA THAT HE WANTED A TRIP TO THE MOON. HE MAY JUST GET IT THIS YEAR.

DOC, THEY SAY DRINK A BOTTLE OF TOMATO JUICE. PUT AN EGG IN IT. IT'LL SNAP YOU BACK TO EARTH QUICKLY. I NEVER COULD FIGURE OUT WHY ANYONE WOULD WANT TO DRINK TO THE POINT OF GETTING DRUNK. I WOULDN'T WANT THAT HANGOVER FEELING. TO ME IT'S NOT WORTH IT. I DO HAVE TO ADMIT I USED TO MAKE A MEAN CHRISTMAS COOKIE. IT TOOK A BOTTLE OF WINE TO SOAK THE DATES ETC. SO, SO GOOD. YUM. WHY WOULD A SONG GO TO HELL PUT YOU IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT? DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT COMMENT. TRY CHRISTMAS SONGS YOU MAY LIKE THEM. BY THE WAY HOW'S YOUR MOM DOING? ARE YOU AND HUZ GOING TO CANADA FOR CHRISTMAS?

    GOOD NIGHT ROSS AND ALL.

  16. Granny those christmas cookies sound yummy! I also like rum cake. My aunt makes a really good rum cake.

  17. GRANNY, "GO TO HELL" IS A PARODY OF A CHRISTMAS SONG BY A COMEDIAN. AND SOMETIMES A LITTLE ALCOHOL CAN LOOSEN ONE'S INHIBITIONS AND CAN BE FUN. I USUALLY DON'T HAVE HANGOVERS BUT IF I HAVE A TOUCH OF ONE, IT'S USUALLY WORTH IT IF I HAD A LOT OF FUN. IT'S ALL A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE. A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD AGREE; MANY PEOPLE WOULD DISAGREE. SO IT'S UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL, IMHO. :)

  21. Ross, your tree is beautiful. Our Christmas tradition is putting out my mom's snowman collection. She has SO MANY of them, in all different colors, mediums, and sizes. We have a 15ft vaulted ceiling in our living room and there is a window that is near the top that gets the same snowman every year, and I know it is near Christmas when he has to go up ('cause it is a such a chore).

  22. Where's Dale? I hope everything is okay. I miss his morning greetings!

Dale has been too busy shopping and wrapping and shipping to remember us! (That'll bring him out of the woodwork! LOL) Hi Dale! Let's have a holiday drink! Care for one of my ice cream hot buttered rums?;)

Ross, good luck on Chelsea tomorrow night. Break a leg!

Oh, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! La la la, la la
